Near Lyme Park - an original watercolour painting by Roger Griffiths
A striking original watercolour painting by Roger Griffiths, depicting a white fcottage sitting in the landscape of the Cheshire countryside near to Lyme Park. The eye is lead right through the painting from foreground trees to the cottage, and onto the tree standing on the horizon by the pattern of the fields.
The artist has chosen a colour palette of mainly pinks, blues and purples, with a contrast of grey and accents of green to bring the scene to life.
The picture is loose and is ready for mounting and framing. The image measures 545 x 350 mm.

About the artist
Roger aims to express the underlying patterns in the landscape generated by his interest in geology and geography, but the interpretations are not intended to be fully representational. He finds particularly interesting the landscapes in areas of transition between lowland and upland, and sea and land, with features such as hill farms marking past and present human activity, field patterns and rock outcrops. His interpretation is based on a feeling for a landscape rather than what is seen, its past heritage and land uses, and he aims to abstract the structure of the land set within an impressionistic background. Subjects depict his local area of Northamptonshire and the Midlands, but also extend to all parts of England.
